This was a perfect blend of historic atmosphere and gentility with modern conveniences. The venue is absolutely charming, the location perfect - we were able to park our car and walk everywhere we wanted to go - and yet the room size was nice, the bed amazingly comfortable, outside noise a minimum and the plumbing and electric/electronic features (which I always have low expectations for in such a historic building) were top notch. Would highly recommend!

All the great reviews you read about The Marshall House are right on. Location is great and the hotel staff, rooms, ambiance etc. are top quality for a hotel of this size and age. Also had a fantastic dinner at the Bistro on the bottom floor.

This is the best of the best. The location is terrific. The staff is very friendly, and the decor is charming. They accommodated us with almond milk for breakfast. Brandt was extremely helpful with tours and restaurants.

Just got back from a girls' long weekend in Savannah and my friend and I could not be more pleased with our stay at the Marshall House. It was a perfect location, we valeted the car when we arrived and did not need to get in it again until we left. The House has so much historic charm while still having all the amenities you want, and the staff were all so friendly. The weekday wine and cheese reception is a nice touch and the daily breakfast is elevated beyond the usual "continental breakfast" fare with delicious quiches and southern biscuits in addition to what you would expect. The first night we stayed in a balcony room and that was a real treat, we only wish we had booked sooner so we could have had that room all three nights!

This is an old and charming hotel with fantastic staff!. We were welcomed from the time we pulled up in front of the hotel until we left. Each time we left the hotel and returned, someone was usually available to open the door for us and say "welcome back". Our room was comfortable with an old fashioned claw foot tub with shower, a couple of wing back chairs and a king size bed and a flat screen tv. The breakfast was served in a lovely atrium room with beautiful potted palms. Each evening wine and cheese were served in the library. This was a lovely way to wind down your day and meet your fellow travellers. Based on what I considered was a very reasonable rate for this hotel, the service was what you would expect from a much more expensive property. The location was great - only a couple of blocks from river street and within walking distance to the city market, Forsyth park and all the lovely squares and beautiful old homes.

My husband and I stayed here for several day in early April. We could not have bee happier with the hotel. The staff were great (Holly, Carlton, Charles and Heather to name a few) and the rooms were comfortable and clean. The location of the hotel was perfect, central to everything, with a Starbucks right down the block. We stayed in a Broughton Balcony room and it was wonderful. We really enjoyed sitting on the balcony in rocking chairs watching the numerous ghost tours stop in front of the hotel. Some reviewers have mentioned that these rooms are noisy, we did not find that to be a problem at all, in fact we were actually surprised that it was not noisier. If we ever get the change to visit Savannah again, we will be staying at the Marshal House. If you are planning a trip to Savannah this is the PLACE TO STAY.

Our stay at the Marshall House was nothing short of incredible from the moment we drove up to the moment we drove off. The hotel is an older building that has been nicely restored but not to the point where the charm was eliminated. The staff was very friendly and professional - Carlton, who took care of our car and luggage, was particularly helpful and most pleasant. Breakfast was very good and included just about anything you would want. While we were on a quick trip, two of the couples we stayed there with came back for two more nights later that week. I can't think of a reason to stay anywhere else in Savannah.

An exceptional experience from the moment we were greeted by Carlton to working with Brant to schedule our weekend. This was a girl's getaway weekend and my friend and I felt we received outstanding personal attention. We will absolutely be back to the friendliest city and the friendliest hotel in the city! Thank you Marshall House team for exceeding our expectations!

From the moment we pulled our car up in front of the hotel, we knew we were going to enjoy the Marshall House. The Valet was personable, pleasant and went out of his way to welcome us to this great B&B. Check-in was quick and efficent. We ordered a room with the balcony and we were surprised that we had to climb thru the window to get to the balcony. All we did was laugh and took some funny pictures of our climb in and out. The balcony is furnished with rocking chairs and tables. Very relaxing. Our room had so much charm and character. The bed was so comfy. Bathroom was small but clean and stocked with plenty of towels. Loved the clawfoot tub and the black & white checkered tites on the floor. The breakfast in the solarium was plenty for me.Quiche, fresh fruit, cereals, breads & muffins, several juices, coffee & tea..Wine & cheese was served in the late afternoon which gave us opportunity to meet and chat with other guests. Great walking location to the parks, theater, restaurants shops and river street.. Perfect B&B to stay at in Savannah.

You cannot beat the convenience of staying at the Marshall House! It is right in the heart of everything and the service was wonderful! The concierge is truly the best in Savannah, Brant went above and beyond to arrange the things on our "must do" list and even sent us reminders of our reservations for dinner, etc. The wine & cheese was a nice touch too. The valet Terry was also exceptional! Terry shared stories with us about Savannah, gave us tips on the places locals like best, and always greeted us like we were his best friends! When visiting Savannah I will always stay at Marshall House!

Southern Charm is alive and well at this lovely establishment. Charming like the city itself; it is like coming across a hidden gem. Cannot believe this is not the #1 choice for travellers. The wine and cheese evening hour is a wonderfull way to meet other travellers. Enjoyed the quiche at breakfast. Excellent location and the staff really go out of their way to help.

This hotel is more comfortable than your own home. They are located in the middle of EVERYTHING and the employees will help you get wherever you need to go. We saw one of the employees on the street when he was off duty, but he stopped a cell phone conversation to assist us with directions. THAT is SERVICE!!! The room was very clean and equipped with all modern comforts while maintaining historical charm. The bed was super comfy as well. Breakfast was plentiful and inviting. We were very pleased with everything about this home away from home.

I couldn't say anything more wonderful about this amazing hotel. It is a GREAT location. 3 blocks from The Lady and Sons Restaurant. Very close to River Street, an easy walk to all of the tourist spots. The hotel itself was beautiful, clean and honestly one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. We booked a Courtyard Suite and got the Juliet Gordon Lowe Suite. It was spacious, spotless, quiet and lovely with the hardwood floors, upholstered furniture, comfortable king bed and beautiful wood pieces. The staff was amazing, very friendly and welcoming. I will never stay anywhere else in Savannah!

I read a lot of good things about the Marshall House on this website and they all proved to be true. The hotel was beautiful and very historic. We enjoyed the balcony in our king room. Our room was clean and well decorated. Other than the tv I felt like I stepped back in time! The location of the hotel was excellent too, right in the middle between all the historic squares and houses and the river street area. I would recommend this hotel to all my friends.
02/01/12
The staff at the Marshall House were very attentive. They actually greeted me by name whenever they saw me. The valet service worked fine getting the car promptly and the valets were a great help. Even the breakfast servers were friendly and quickly brought some sweets out that had just run out. A very nice group of folks. The room was nice, and though not large, comfortable. Mints and bottles of water are complimentary, a nice touch. Located right on Broughton Street makes for an easy access to most sites. We enjoyed it.
01/24/12
The hotel is beautiful, close to everything you want to do and the staff is great! It has been a long time since my husband and I have recieved such professional and caring staff. The room was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was delicious! We can't wait to return!
01/14/12
This hotel was not only beautiful, but the accomodations were very much the epitome of what a customer expects from a traditional bed and breakfast. The staff is friendly, helpful, and make you feel like you are their "only guest". The hotel is so comfortable and historic, you just don't want to leave. I was especially impressed with their breakfast buffet and their wine and cheese presentation. You could relax in front of the fireplace with your wine/cheese/fruit and interact with your fellow guests, or just play checkers with your party. The front desk staff was extremely informative and helpful with reservations and directions. We were also lucky that when we booked, there were some room rate specials and we got a great deal. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay and you will definitely be seeing us again soon!
01/05/12
Fantastic hospitality from beginning to end. Pleasure to see that customer service isn't lost. The staff were all polite, friendly and knowledgable. My room was very warm and comfortable and had all the amenities I needed including a mini-fridge. I slept so well and I was able to totally relax. I enjoyed the continental breakfast, I could keep it light so I could enjoy walking around the city and have a late lunch. The location is perfect for wandering around the historic downtown area, river street and city market. I can't wait to come back and will suggest The Marshall House to all my friends. Thank you Marshall House and Savannah for a great vacation!

My Wife and I have been to Savannah a few times, and we've happened by the Marshall House while exploring the city. Let me tell you, don't concern yourself with the negative comments that anyone has left about the Inn. From the moment we parked in the loading/unloading zone, we were greeted and supported by the most helpful staff (from Carlton the porter to all of the front desk personnel). The lobby decor was nice and decked out for Christmas. Our room wasn't quite ready, so our luggage was placed in storage and our car was parked by our Valet behind the hotel. When we realized we'd accidentally left something in the trunk of the car, Carlton was so helpful in offering to retrieve it for us. We felt completely safe in their hands and they left us with extra time to explore the city on foot. The inn is nice, it's charming, it's historic with a central location to historic Savannah and the staff treated us well.
12/16/11
We stayed at the Marshall House for three nights and it was one of the most delightful experiences I've ever had at a hotel. The staff was courteous, the room had every amenity I could hope for, and the building itself was a virtual travel back in history. The complimentary breakfast was well prepared and the garden-like atmosphere of the dining room was incredible. There was someone at the Marshall House looking out for my needs every step of the way. Decorated for Christmas and bejeweled like a true southern belle, the Marshall House will remain a hotel forever imbedded in my memory.

We stayed at The Marshall House for five nights, and I didn’t want to leave! What I loved most about this hotel besides the rich history, the beautiful architecture, and the artwork was that I felt like I was spending the night at a friend’s. It doesn’t feel like you’re in a hotel, but a guest in someone’s home. I love all the paintings and furnishings and the hardwood floors! The bed in our classic king room was exceptionally comfortable... Breakfast was delicious, with lots of yummy options to choose from. The entire staff was friendly and the service was outstanding. Also, it is within walking distance to almost everything. Perfect location! We can’t wait to come back. I will never stay in a chain hotel again while in Savannah.
12/07/11
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Marshall House. The staff have mastered the art of southern hospitality, and made us feel like we were honored guests. The complimentary breakfast was wonderful, complete with homemade quiche, and heated coffee cups. The mattresses made you feel like you were in your own bed at home, and the location was central to everything. Well done, Marshall House - we're already looking for an excuse to return!
11/30/11
This is a charming hotel, perfectly located to enjoy the historic centre of Savannah. The staff were helpful and professional. Breakfast was excellent - although described as Continental, there was also a choice of two very tasty hot quiches. Bathroom was charming with claw foot tub, and in addtion to normal amenties of soaps, etc, there were Q-tips and cotton balls. Very thoughtful. Lovely hotel - we will definitely visit here again.
11/30/11
We chose the Marshall House because of the location in the middle of the Historic District and the reviews here and we couldn't have been happier. The location is perfect for exploring Savannah on foot and excellent restaurants are just a few short blocks away. The staff was great and were well equipped with dining and entertainment suggestions to help make our weekend fun. The rooms are really lovely and comfortable. Breakfast is included and has a decent offering including quiche Lorraine, broccoli quiche and a citrus compote. We really enjoyed our weekend here and look forward to returning.
11/17/11
From the moment we walked in the front door, we were welcomed as if we'd entered a friend's home. We had only one evening to spend in Savannah, but the staff helped us get the most out of our time. They helped us map out a self-guided walking tour, offered restaurant suggestions that suited our tastes and price, and provided peace of mind by offering to provide a 2 a.m. wakeup call and have our car ready to go at 3 a.m. This was a perfect start to our honeymoon, and we definitely look forward to a return visit.

My daughter and I stayed at the Marshall House for a long weekend and loved the charm of this hotel. You have to know and understand the history of the hotel to enjoy the character. Everyone that worked there was very friendly and made you feel welcome. The turn-down service and follow up phone call was a nice touch. The room was very clean and the bed was super comfortable!
10/08/11
I am just completing my 5 day stay at the Marshall House, and I have to say I love it. If you want slick, new and impersonal, this is not the place for you. If you want charming, welcoming, beautiful and personal, this is the place for you. Everyone was VERY friendly and warm, from the front desk, to the women cleaning the rooms. The place is spotless. I cannot say enough about it. The breakfast was fine in the morning and the location is the best, you can easily walk anywhere in the historic district. My son is a SCAD student and this will be my new home in Savannah when I visit! It is my new favorite hotel!
10/04/11
We are from Philadelphia and we stayed at the Marshall House from September 30th through October 3rd. It's an old war hospital renovated. It was charming and had lots of character. It was clean and I am a germaphobe times ten! It was within walking distance to everything. I especially love the history of Savannah. Make sure when you visit you do the tours...it's the best way to learn about the city and culture.
09/29/11
If you want to experience how it used to be. This is the place to stay. Beautiful decorated rooms. Bar, lobby, restaurant, etc - all decorated like the old days. All clean and well functioning. Very high service level. Location only minutes walking from most attractions.
09/18/11
This place is lovely. I came with my wife to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. We stayed on the second floor with the balcony and had dinner on the balcony our last night there. The service was great, the room was large and roomy. It was a great change to stay in an old building with the old charm and NOT feel like it is outdated and in need of updating. The location does not get any better.
Also, we came with our 10 month old daughter and spent most of the first day in our room with the do not disturb sign on. When we finally left at 2pm instead of getting no service, we had a bag of fresh towels and water hanging on our door. This is a great hotel, and I will be staying here again.
09/13/11
A friend and I stayed at the Marshall House and both loved it. From the exterior to the lobby to the rooms, we truly enjoyed the charm and history of this inn....built in 1851. I love the wood floors and all the quaintness of the old building. The staff was very professional and courteous....bellman very helpful and car was brought up in a timely manner. Very convenient to all the downtown happenings. Will definitely stay at Marshall House again!
09/01/11
I can't say enough about this hotel! It is the oldest hotel in Savannah, so you are truly staying in a piece of history. They have done a marvelous job of renovating the hotel. We were treated wonderfully by all staff. If you go to Savannah, I highly recommend staying here!
09/01/11
My wife and I stayed for a few days to explore the historic district in Savannah and the Marshall House was a great choice! It is very well maintained, great rooms and overall a relaxed atmosphere. The staff could not have been more helpful or nicer. I will stay here again.
08/17/11
We loved staying at The Marshall House! Customer Service here was fantastic!! Our room was nice and clean and wonderfully old looking. Lots of history and a great location, it is easy to walk everywhere. Love all the history. I highly recommend a stay here.
08/16/11
We were pampered from the moment the valet greeted us upon arrival. This hotel is professional in every way and we can say this as world travelers. Early evening complimentary wine & cheese and nicely presented buffet for breakfast. Wonderfully situated among upmarket shops in this city of parks & fountains. Within easy walking distance of the riverfront and historic areas. Comfortable bed and quiet thermostatically controlled ventilation. Absolutely superb.
08/07/11
This place was great! The rooms are spacious, spotless and filled with antique charm. The best part about this place are the beds! They were extremely comfortable. I think the night we stayed here was the best sleep I had on my entire 11 day trip through Florida. They also included a yummy continental breakfast the next morning which was very nice. If you are going to Savannah I would try The Marshall House. You will not be disappointed.
08/02/11
My Fiancee and I stayed here for one night. We booked the Marshall House after reading many great reviews. They did not disappoint. Friendly staff, attention to detail, even balloons and a card signed by the entire staff was in our room to greet us to congratulate us on our engagement. Will definitely return.
07/31/11
This was a great hotel! Very old- original floors and such but very updated with furniture, technology and amenities. The people here were the BEST! So nice, so helpful and so friendly. The staff was beyond great. The location is perfect too- right in the historic district and a short walk to River Street. Would highly recommend staying here.
07/21/11
We stayed here for two nights while visiting Savannah for the first time. The valet/bellman was incredibly nice as soon as we stepped out of the car. He encouraged us to grab some wine and cheese before heading up to our room, since it was almost the end of the social hour. The check in staff was very pleasant and gave us great recommendations for dinner. We had a number of other hotel stays on this trip and the staff at the Marshall House made a hard act to follow. Our room was good sized considering the historic nature of the hotel. Everything was comfortable. The complimentary breakfast included the usual continental choices plus a couple selections of quiche. There were complimentary bottles of water in our room and there is turn down service with chocolates.
07/19/11
From the minute you arrive at the Marshall House, you are greeted with a smile and top self service. All of the staff is very accommodating and helful. Love the afternoon social time with complimentary wine and cheese. A great opportunity to visit with others for suggestions as to where to go, what to see and where to eat. This was our first trip to Savannah and we would definitely stay at the Marshall House again without thinking twice. It's so convenient to everything that once we handed them our car keys we never saw it again until we checked out!
07/06/11
We had a lovely corner room with beautiful old hardwood flooring that seemed to be the original one. The whole place is well restored with excellent taste. The complimentary wine and cheese treat in the early evening is very pleasant and we enjoyed every day.
06/24/11
I can't say enough about the Marshall House. It had consistently good reviews and now I know why. Locale ideal within walking distance to everything within the historic district. Beautifully renovated while keeping some of the original floors, doors and fixtures. Just lovely. Complimentary breakfast is what you would expect for a continental with a lovely courtyard to enjoy it in. The staff were accommodating. Rooms were clean and calming. We were really impressed with this inn.
06/19/11
We spent time in the evening sitting on the balcony which was really relaxing after a busy day of tours and sightseeing. The service was above and beyond, the turndown service a treat and the wine and cheese service excellent. The bed was very comfortable. Best of all was the location...we were able to walk everywhere with no problem. If you have just one night in Savannah this is where you should spend it.
06/12/11
This is our go-to hotel for a romantic weekend getaway. The service is incredible, the location is fantastic and the ambience cannot be beat. Clean, comfortable and very romantic!
06/06/11
If I am back in Savannah I will definitely stay here again, this hotel is perfect. I love Boutique hotels and this is a prime example for anyone else to copy. Simple yet stylish rooms, great bathrooms and comfy beds. But they are styled in an old fashion to create an air of sophistication.
06/05/11
This was our 4th stay at The Marshall House and it is always wonderful. The front desk is always friendly and helpful. The valet service is very fast. We have never had to wait for our vehicle. We always get a balcony room and the balcony is a great way to relax after a long day of sightseeing. I am a light sleeper and have never been awakened from traffic on Broughton Street. The free breakfast is a great way to get your day started. You can't go wrong by staying here.
05/30/11
The staff were very friendly and helpful! The room was smaller than I imagined, but definitely not problematic. With so much to do in Savannah--the only thing that you really do is sleep and shower in your room. Turn down service was nice- every evening we had a card with the next days weather forecast along with chocolates. Speaking of things to do--the location was perfect--very close to everything you would want to do. If you are looking for a great experience in a great location, this is your place. The Marshall House itself is a step back in time.
04/19/11
We stayed here in March for 3 nights- first time in Savannah. Rooms were big and beds were great. Wine and cheese in the afternoon was a bonus, and the breakfasts were good. The location was excellent - close enough to walk to the historic district and check out all the sights, close to the waterfront and restaurants. We were really happy with our choice and found the staff here friendly and helpful.
04/06/11
What a great choice in hotels. I researched for a while and decided against a B&B and went with the Marshall House- No regrets! Super location, rooms were what I expected in a late 1800's hotel, super comfy beds, great old style hotel.
03/31/11
We found the Marshall House excellent in all ways. The location on Broughton street is perfect for walking the historic district. The service personnel were all helpful and very friendly. The historic nature of the hotel added extra charm to the stay. The covered courtyard breakfast was very good, and daily afternoon wine and cheese was a nice plus.
02/04/11
The hotel itself is a beautiful and historic property so I immediately felt immersed in the charm of Old Savannah. The location was ideal to explore the city's riverfront and historic district on foot. I loved the attention to detail from the "gas lamps" in the breakfast courtyard to effectively making use of every inch of space in my hotel room without feeling crowded. There were several amenities included that I appreciated but had never seen offered in another hotel: pre-warmed coffee mugs at the breakfast buffet; nightly turndown service that included a weather report for the next day; cotton balls and q-tips in the bathroom. The bedding was so comfortable that I slept soundly. I found plenty of choices for breakfast at the buffet. I did not get to try the complimentary wine and cheese spread during my stay as I was still out exploring in the early evenings. I found the library was a comfortable spot to relax.
12/26/10
Wonderful place to stay! The room furnishings made you feel like you were staying in someone's home. The bath was very clean. The staff could not have been any better. They were so friendly and helpful. Only about 3 blocks or so from the river. Eating breakfast in the atrium truly made you feel like you were in a very romantic place. We highly recommend staying at this place.
12/22/10
Hotel was great. Staff was very helpful and went all out to make sure you enjoyed your stay. Very nice rooms. Restaurant attached to hotel was excellent. We really can't wait to come back and stay at the Marshall House on our next trip South.
12/08/10
It was our first trip to Savannah and we fell in love with the place. The hotel was above our expectations, it was beautiful, with a welcoming reception area and staff who were more than happy to help you, we enquired about a tour and they booked it for us within two hours for that evening. Our room was lovely, comfy beds, enough space, the only down side is that we didn't have a view, but to be honest we were only in the room to sleep so that really shouldn't matter!
The location is spot on, it's right in the middle of the historic area and you could not got lost if you tried, the hotel is HUGE.While in the hotel you could imagine the days when there were ladies that lunched and gentlemen who tipped their hats!
We went back to Savannah this year and found that the Marshall House is one of the most haunted hotels in Savannah and they have a log at reception of all the events that have happened. Maybe I will get a chance to read that next time.
